Since the cellar door opening weekend Panton Vineyard has become a hive of activity and finding time to write a post has been difficult, sorry !
We have been delighted with the enthusiasm and interest shown by everyone who visits our cellar door. It has been a delight to see who drops in every weekend.
Thank you all so much for the great response to the cellar door and our wines. I am proud to announce that our wines are now being offered at a couple of local Mornington Peninsula restaurants, Johnny Ripe and Terre and in Melbourne at Story So Far wine bar and store at 8 Dorcas St Southbank. I hope that this means more people will be able to try and enjoy our wine.
The chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot noir grapes have now all been harvested with the sangiovese to be picked in a couple of weeks. It has been a bit of a tricky vintage to plan around as we only had a consistently warm couple of weeks in December and then autumn seemed to come early. This has meant the ripening process has been a little slower than usual. We had to be particularly patient finding the right balance of sugars and acids, but we are extremely happy with the resulting quality of grapes and are excited to taste the wines they become.
This week I have harvested baskets full of apples and a variety of vegetables allowing me to make pesto, relishes and other tasty treats. Luckily I have a crowd coming to stay this weekend. Soon I hope to be able to sell my home grown produce to you at the cellar door.
Wishing you all a happy and safe Easter break and if you find yourself on the Mornington Peninsula on the weekend please drop in, we would love to see you.
Happy Easter and warm wishes
